I should stretch

John,

You are right that I should stretch. I'm helping coach a U-19 Boys club soccer team this season. About all we do at practices is scrimmage. That is good for running, since we probably do at least 5 or 6 miles during our 1.5 hour practice. But yesterday a high ball came my way and I tried to trap it with my leg. A Rockette I'm not. My leg came up about waist high, way too low to catch the soccer ball. So I'll join you in stretching!

As far as running is concerned, I usually set the treadmill at 6.5 MPH for the first 20 minutes. That gets me warmed up and limber enough for faster running. Then I start moving up the speedometer, often in 20 minute increments.
