Yes, John I too started running again in my 50's (51). And as a portion of the general population of that age it is impressive for us to still be that active. Until you start talking to guys our age at the large runs as to what age they started. 40's and 50's then is not that unusual as a restarting point. I like to call it the last hurrah syndrome. And Dave is right, take it easy in the start up phase of your running career and you can enjoy running for the rest of your life. At any large race your will see several guys in their 80's. I take glucosamine/chondroitin also. There is no down side, all natural ingredients. The basic constituents of cartilege. Early man ate the whole animal including gnawing on the bones, we don't get that in our diet, only the flesh of the animal. You also told us how much you weighed but not how tall you are. I worry that you might not be ready to carry a lot of weight. If that is the case it can be destructive to the body.
