Here goes: I'm 31, and a former competitive runner, but the 32:50 10K PR was in 1993. In 2001, I ran a half in 1:19, but I've barely run a step since.

Since the sub 33 days are long gone, I've decided that I want to run a marathon, and do it in less than three hours. But i have several things hindering goal setting. First off, I haven't trained in two years and I'm about 15-20 pounds over racing weight. What kind of time schedule am I looking at until I race? I've seen several 12 week programs, but I worry that this won't be long enough. Thoughts from anyone that has been/is in this spot?

Thanks,

Skinner
