To answer your real question, I'd wear dark colored shorts (i.e., black or navy) made out of nylon or some other synthetic quick drying fabric because they usually look about the same when wet and don't get heavy. I'd also wear dark colored or grey socks with good moisture wicking properties (not cotton).
BUT ... if you've not worn these types of fabrics during training, esp the socks, I think you should just stick with what you used/tested in training and forget about whether anyone will notice. Many folks are drenched head to toe in sweat anyway
