What are you doing about staying hydrated?

I know that when I started to carry water and to drink more, my long runs became MUCH easier.

A couple of other tips that have helped me in the past:

1) carbohydrates the night before

2) coffee a hour or so before the run (but be sure to plan for a "pit stop" :-) )

3) I also sometimes like to mix in a long duration (time on my feet) trail run when building up milage.

Don't get me wrong; long runs are supposed to feel challenging and my first couple (16 miles are longer) are usually &^%$!!!'s.
