... listen to Dave. Trying for fall 2003 marathon would be an invitation for disaster. Why? Because the body just can't adjust to the wear and tear of running, unless the mileage increase is slow, very slow. Even then, most of us get injured and have to back off.
If you're planning to do a marathon, you should be running regularly 25 miles per week (mpw) for two or three months before you start your training for the marathon. And then it takes 3-4 months of training to be prepared for a marathon.
