I run by myself most of the time and have been extra concerned about my personal safety ever since nearly being attacked by someone while just jogging to get my mail one day in my apartment complex. Some guy followed me in his car, jumped out with no clothes on and chased me. Fortunately, I ran around the mail pavilion and outsmarted him. This experience inspired me to learn how to defend myself and 4 years later I earned a Black Belt in karate.

Though I certainly don't expect everyone to get into martial arts, I thought I'd start this thread to share and get some more ideas about how we can protect ourselves while out there training. Sometimes the things we do to be seen by cars are the same things that might draw attackers.

I'll start by recommending a couple things, esp for those who choose to train alone like me: 1) take a short course on womens self defense, 2) take a refresher course once a yr, 3) carry pepper spray with you.

Any other ideas or experiences you'd like to share?
