This used to be a groovy space, where runners (note the choice of word) exchanged on routines, strategies, helped each other along during injuries, exchanged notes about races (note the choice of word), the general idea being that everyone, from a back-packer to the jet improving on his/her last BQ, should better their chrono, be as fast as possible in as good a form as possible.
It seems its been hijacked by a bunch of do-gooders, wimpy cry-babies and girl-scouts who resent runners (this somber sort whose sinister objective is to deprive the good soul from being considered a marathoner, which seems all of a sudden as a god-given right, despite the fact that running is involved - with the hard work and ever-harder routines involved and why shouldnt I be seen as a marathon runner, after all, Ive signed up, havent I?
Cheap thrills, you ask me.
My next triathlon, Ill see if I can get away with doing the swim portion while using fins and paddles
What do you mean Im disqualified, mister marshal? I did the distance, didnt I?
Hell, we now have people calling themselves First timers, who have yet to run two consecutive miles, and who champion the notion that youre a marathoner so long as it hurts!
I dont buy all this crap.
I remember when we had Voodoo around man, was she ever slow! But her goal was not to walk the damn thing so that it will hurt the least, but to learn how to run fast enough to make it before the cut-off. And everybody on this board cheered her along and she made it.
Weve been through crises after crises, on this board, some of them nasty. But this time around
damn, you feel as if you should apologize for being a runner.
