Now that everyone has had their New Year's fun by acting sophomoric, I believe someone was wondering about marathon pacing. From personal experience, I've found that starting at the pace you've trained at works best for me. In Walt Diseny World, 1999, I wanted to run 3:30, but started out way to fast and was lucky to run 3:40. Last year at Top of Utah, I made a concerted effort to run the first two miles much slower then goal pace, then got comfortable. Ended up in 3:29. So starting slow works for me. Try to back off the first few miles in your training. Here's to many runs in the New Year! RNR girl
