In Alaska last week, I met someone who was in the 50 States & DC Marathon Group(http://www.50anddcmarathongroupusa.com) and he mentioned there is a splinter group that is similar, 50 States Marathon Club (www.50statesmarathonclub.com).
Besides having to do complete a marathon in DC, are there other significant differences between the two groups? They both appear to have numerous members, same costs, benefits (newsletters, t-shirts/trophies, reunions, recognition of ultras and int'l marathons), etc. The second one appears to be a bit more flexible with its awards and photos but somewhat smaller. I know I'm far from having to qualify for either group (done 3 so far and need 10) but anybody have an opinion?
