I ran Ave of Giants in '96 and it was fantastic. Really I can't imagine a more scenic race. The redwoods provide shade for the entire course and the route itself is flat and fast. I agree with Tom regarding what some people think are drawbacks in terms of the expo and crowd support on the course but there are more than sufficient aid stations and particularly delicious popsicles at the finish. Granted the popsicles may have been 'endorphin-enhanced'!
Judging by your stats providing that the weather does not do something abominable my guess is that you'll be able to run 2:45-2:50.
