BAA accepts chip (net) times or official race (gun) times as qualifying times. This is not mentioned specifically on the BAA website (http://www.baa.org/BostonMarathon/Qualifying.asp ), but www.coolrunning.com mentions it (see http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/3/3_1/474.shtml ) and I saw that either was allowed on this year's Boston Marathon race application.

In addition, other previous posts on the Race Results Bulletin Board have said that only the hour and minute numbers matter. For example, if one’s BQ time is 3:45, 3:45:48 would still qualify!
