Hi! A number of things could be causing knee pain; you might have someone check out your shoes (do they break down by collapsing to the inside?) Orthotics took care of most of my knee pain.

Other things that help: stationary biking to build up the muscles around the knee, and doing stretches to keep your quads loose.

BTW, I am also a (relatively)big guy (6 ft, 185 lbs); you might check out the website: www.cvrt.org; it is for "clydesdale" runners. We have a well moderated, friendly e-mail loop, and folks who have run 2:40 marathons, and others who have run 6:00.
