I am shooting for Madison in 2000, albeit for a time 15 minutes slower than yours.

I've run the 1/2 marathon course (which is the second half of the race) and I can say that the second half is fast. There are some small hills, but there are plenty of places to stretch out.

Don't pay too much attention to the splits; they had me anywhere between 6:15 and 8:30 mpm (I averaged 7:17's).

Also, since running their events (1997-2000), only one of the days has been hot. all the rest have been nice and cool. There has been wind off of the lake at times though.

You might check out what others said on the "US Races" part of the directory.
