If you can't find any real information, you might do a survey of runners at this site. The part of the BB that you are in -- Anything Else -- isn't well used. Post your survey in "Running Tips/Training" which is more frequented.
Other people have posted very general surveys on this BB. To be successful with your paper, you would probably want to ask very specific questions. You could even ask for help on what questions to ask. Dr. Z is a college professor and might be able to offer guidance on good scientific questions.
If you do a survey, be sure to post your conclusions after you write your paper.
