The only thing I wish someone had of told me was to be consistent with the weight training. I found that my upper body was much more sore than after a road marathon. The reason is all the balancing on the trail. On the flip side, recovery is a snap since the trail surface is so forgiving, unless you trip on a root! The 50K is a great distance. I have done 5 of them (Sunmart in Huntsville, TX) and I'm training for my sixth. Good luck!
