Sorry I don't have the advice you're looking for Ollie, but wanted to commend you on your race selection. The park where they have the event is beautiful. I did the 10K a couple years back and loved it. Be ready for hills and wetness. These are true, narrow, winding trails with many stream crossings. The weather the week before and day of will determine how wet and cold you'll get. The streams can vary from rushing 1-2 foot deep to bone dry. Also the weather can be unpreditable - anywhere between 20s to 60s! If I haven't scared you enough, let me mention that my normal 10K time is under 36 minutes, my Quivering Quads 10K time was about 45 minutes! This isn't an event you go for a good time on, but then again time isn't everything. I believe you'll really like this event.
