Whether you eat meat, are a vegetarian, or a vegan, you need to pay careful attention to what you put into your body. In terms of vitamins, nutrients, carbohydrates, protein, etc., it is important to make sure the foods you eat are providing you the proper balance.

It drives me crazy when someone spouts that stuff about, "I used to be Vegan and was sick, now I eat meat and I am great". Human beings do not have teeth which indicates a natural need for meat. Go ahead and eat meat if you want to, but don't put forth propoganda indicating that a Vegan cannot lead a healthy, and active athletic life.

I lift weights (heavy), and run, and I am careful about my nutritional intake. Many people who eat meat are sick, many people who are Vegan are sick; and the opposite holds true.

Your email is bull (sorry for the strong word, but...). You obviously did not know how to properly manage your non-meat diet. So, you should eat meat. But many, many, other athletes can survive, and thrive with a well managed Vegan diet.
