my ferritin levels are 11 which means the iron stores are completely depleted. You need to get your iron and ferritin levels checked the ferritin is to check for the sports anemia. I went to my kinesiologist for iron supplements, after 6 weeks you get your blood tested again to see if you are getting better. I also went to a nutritionist my coach suggested and she suggested ways to add iron and protein (I wasnt getting enough).
My symptoms are tired all the time, high heart rate, cant think straight or follow a conversation basically feel like I am on heavy antihistamenes all the time. I want to get better so I can have a banner running year. My running suffered horribly because of this. So I am adding red meat 2 times a week. I was a strict vegetarian (no meat or dairy) but the goal is health right? It is incredible! The next day after I eat red meat I can run better and think better. Thought it was a fluke but it has happened the last 3 times I have had red meat.
So I suggest getting your blood tested and see a nutritionist. You dont have to eat red meat like I am doing but nutritionist can give you better ideas to add iron, etc.
RNR Girl also had some anemia... maybe she has some ideas too?
