Letting people in without qualifying, simply because they managed to get half way through the prior years race, within two hours after the winner finished makes a lot of sense. (????)
I think we should also give qualification free entry to:
...1) all past year Boston Qualifiers who weren't accepted due to over registration and
...2) all persons who have a physical limitations such as excess weight (over 130 lbs), resticted stride length (dwarfs and, even more so, paraplegics) etc. etc. etc.
Why not just increase the field to a few million so everyone has a shot?
Or, we could just realize in a zero sum situation, bestowing special benefits to one group means stealing the rights of others.
The people who ran, but didn't finish in 2012, had their shot. Now they are taking someone else's. That's not right.
