The calves were just odd because it didn't happen until I'd been running in the pureflows for over a month. My calves still get "crampy" but it's been 5 months so it should be okay right? I have thought of trying the brooks launch or pure connect (which I know are more minimal) or maybe switching from brooks altogether. Thoughts? Regarding the ankle.. No, not playing any other sports. Since Sandy hit (and totaled my car) I have been running on a quarter mile track... not ideal but my only other choice was pavement/concrete so I was trying to keep pounding to a minimum. I am hoping to get a car soon and then I can go back to running on a dirt loop at Van Cortlandt park. The only thing I can think is running with the insoles.. maybe it's causing more pressure on the outside part of the ankle??? But I had run with them in the spring and never experienced this. I was able to run a hilly 5 mile race Sunday at a 6.53 avg pace. I felt the ankle the whole time but it didn't really inhibit me. Pretty swollen afterward. But by today my ankle felt great... until I went to run.. even at a slow pace it got achey.. up the side of the leg a little too and sore to the touch and swollen:/ Very frustrating... esp. not being able to pinpoint the cause.
