I think you will get many responses if you post the same question on the Running Tips/Training board. I don't think very many people look at the Personals board. My one commment would to go to your local library and see if they have a book on beginners marathon training. There are dozens that are available at your local Borders or amazon.com. Some are aimed at beginners and some for people trying to lower their time for the distance. Other than that, just invest in a good pair of shoes and try to run every day or every other day.
