Chicago was actually my first choice, but I have a conflict that weekend. After doing the Washington DC Marathon in March I really had my heart set on another big city run. So of course NY came to mind. However, Columbus is a good alternative too. As far as life-long distance runner... running has done so much for me that I can't begin to write, so I sure hope I'm a life long runner!
