Well......I know the "not quitting at Mile 13" thing as well, that is for sure. You still did great. I love the story re your son as well.
My dad (who is a GP) has really been pushing the gluco/chondroitin (as mentioned by Dr. Steve too, our footdoc). There was recently a study published in The Lancet, or New England Journal of Medicine, or some such (my dad needs "published proof" before he will even consider supplements), and he then looked up all the research studies, etc. it was based on and he says this really is something to consider, esp in re tendons. I was interested to see Dr. Steve mention it too.
There was a chart in Consumer Reports detailing the price/quantity for the varying brands, and of course, I'm sitting here writing this and blanking on the brand that came out at the top. If you like, I can get the name at home and post here.

PS: Quad that I tore on "my" Mile 13 doesn't hurt -- but I can't run, either. Hamstring still hurts, even swimming. I don't think Shasta is in the cards for next week, which is really sad. Funnily enough, it's snowing there, so it might be "too cold to go." Which would be fine with me! 2 triathlons scheduled for June and July (hey Steve, come do the Tiburon Triathlon with me! It's only a 3 mile run but you get to swim 1/2 mile in the S.F. Bay *evil grin*). Then North is going to come down and swim from Angel Island to Tiburon (a little over a mile, same course, other side as the Alcatraz Triathlon, different riptide current other side of the island) end of October RIGHT North? *oh I am evil*
