Great job, Scott... It's really too bad about the injury.

One great thing is that you now know that your program/diet/dediction are right on.

No more trial and error for this marathoner.

I'm not one to speak (having run the second portion of the Boston marathon in such pain, you know the story) but you asked the question: yes, I think you should have quit on mile 14. I ran through the pain because this was my last marathon and I knew ('cause my doctor told me) that I could not really aggravate the injury by running this thing.

This race did not mean all that much, really, to you. Your goal is to qualify for Boston. If it wasn't to happen with this race it would happen at another race (you even tinkered with that notion recently). I just hope that your injury will not prove so serious that you will have to slow down in your training for your next goal race (your BQ).

Whatever, you have every right to be proud (and it's really something to be able to run with your kids like that). I'm sure everyone in your family is thanking you for having taken care of yourself, surpassing dire circumstances, and coming out of it a true champion. People like you, you impress me so much.

If your kids are anything like you...
