Your body has enough stored glucose to last about 2 hours. After that you need to refuel. So, yes you will need to decide what type of calories that you will need for the long haul. Remember that a calorie s a calorie whether it is in a liquid form or a solid form. For me personally, I can make it through a marathon on liquid calories. I do however bring my own powdered concoction to mix at a aid station. What works for me is 2 TBS of powdered Gatorade with 2 TBS of Carbo-Pro.
