Aside from the lapses out there, there ARE race crews that do an excellent job. Lakefront, Dutchman and Grandma's have it dialed in—they run on time, have a great drop-off area, and the drivers know where they're going. Again, it depends on who is staging these races. Point-to-point works when they have the resources to do it. There's nothing worse than showing up for pre-race transport and buses are running amok— starting your day stressed is no way to start a race—especially for newbies/first-timers. The sport should want to encourage runners to return for yet another race. Getting runners to the start in a relaxed manner with abundant time to warm up, use the facilities, and get to bag-drop with ease is THE way to start any race day. The aforementioned do this heads-and-shoulders above the rest. I know it's not the event's responsibility to coddle entrants, but there will always be rookies signing up for the first time—those are the ones who appreciate your efforts the most and probably don't realize it. Yours is a thankless job—we appreciate what you do—your hard work does not go unnoticed.
