Since no one else has tried this I'll take a shot. First let me say I have lots of hills to work on here in NoVa so I've never tried these other ideas.

1. I have heard of people putting 2 x 4s under the back of a treadmill to simulate down hill running.

2. I have heard of people using parking garage ramps for both uphill and down hill running. I know that is a lot of concrete.

3. I have heard of people WALKING up and down stairs as a way to 'use' the right muscles but not actually run while doing it.

I can't vouch for the success of any of these ideas. Good luck and let us know what worked for you. -Rita
