I've taken mine to the track, and it's actually really accurate for distance. The problem is, at any given moment when I look down it will say I'm doing anywhere from 7 min/miles to 12 min/miles, when I know i'm right around an 8:30-ish pace. It IS accurate for averaging the pace over the entire run, or even a mile split.
It's pretty bulky too (large watch face and the GPS sensor is worn on the arm (about the size of a AM/FM Walkman thing).
