1 - I think your pace was too fast and it caught up with you in the later miles. 4 hours or bust? Would have been wiser to hit the half no faster than 2:05.
2 - regarding Mother Nature, wasn't it somewhat windy out there Saturday? That couldn't have helped.
3 - you didn't indicate how many long runs of 18+ miles you logged in your build-up. Perhaps the fade was due to training shortcomings.
Summary: The beauty of a race like this is that you now look deeper into the things that work and the things that don't. That's when you move on to the next level. It often takes days like this to push you to a better place. (Life's general metaphor, eh?)
