Take a break from marathon training and work on your speed development. If you want to get faster at the marathon, you need to run 5Ks with some degree of regularity. A 3-hr. marathoner should be able to race a 5K in around 18:30.

As for your Steamtown performance, you most certainly would have run faster had the weather not been so unseasonably warm this year.

Regarding early pit stops during the race, that's probably due to hydrating too close to the gun. Some guidelines suggest suspension of hydration 2 hours prior; I've usually adhered to 90 minutes.
