Remember, this is going on for over FIVE HOURS, for me.....

I use Endurox/Accellerade in a hand-held water bottle, that I carry (b/c it doesn't bother me -- did anyone else notice in DT's photos that at the beginning of the race he had one, at the finish line he did not? *smile*). ANYWAY, I carry a fanny pack with "packets" of this, to mix in with water at the mileage stops when I am out of drink (in training, I of course get the water from the dog's backpack). I take a couple sips about every 5 minutes (b/c I can't "gulp" drink it makes me sick). After the first 40 minutes, every 15 minutes, I take a gel (GU works best for me). At Mile 20 in my 2 runs over that level, I "rewarded" Myself with 1/2 bar of dark chocolate.

The fanny pack has 2 GU "bullets" (each holds 5 GUs) clipped on, front "zip" pocket has 5 of the Endurox/Accellerade "packets" to pour in the water, back "zip" has something like 20 GU.

I have tried doing less, but I bonk. I don't know if it's my metabolism or what.

So, compare yourself to moi, Le Snack Shop On Feet, mon ami *grinning*
