Running is a life-long activity. So hearing that you want to stop training high mileage might be the best in your situation. Running every other day between 2 miles and 4 miles will be enough to keep a person in shape and increase their quality of life. Which is a lot more important than running a marathon and later not including running into your life-style. Possibly run short distances until 2003 and if you still find that running is your sport at that time then increase your mileage and aim for a fall 2003 marathon. Training for a marathon might be easier if you had some heavy-duty stability or motion-control shoes. Possibly your injury was due to shoes that didn't support your foot enough.
