WannaBe: Actually, it's interesting. I now have 2 people "bailing out" on the run. One is a guy -- and he offered to give his driver's license to my boyfriend, so that my boyfriend "could" run the race. I asked him if he would want to do this, and what he said was that he wanted me to do this "on my own" for the first 20 miles, that this was my goal and I was going to reach it. HOWEVER, as I had asked him to, he said that he would meet me at mile 20 (he will walk in) and "run me in" the last 6 miles. This way he is going to be fresh, totally encouraging, carrying GU and chocolate (and RNR Girl's cookies if she sends me the recipe *HINT HINT*), and peel off the last 0.2 so he can go get the space blanket for after the finish line. I gotta tell ya.....I actually like this BETTER than the idea of him doing the "whole thing" with me.
Yes, the taper starts now :-) Next weekend (hopefully this stretch/pain/whatever thing is gone by then) is 18, then the next one is 10 (including Hell Hill -- we were going to do 14 but I think 10 with the Hill will be enough), then 10 flat the weekend before. I'm following my "Palladino-modified" Galloway method, and am as always and forever grateful for this board for keeping me going (especially after that period that I had to quit for a while, and then couldn't figure out how to "get back on track")
It was really something to see H come over that hill yday, my friends. I *wish* I had had a camera......
Calgary: I hope it's not worse tomorrow but I agree, I usually have a "worst 2 days after" thing. We Shall See!
