Although I haven't run this one, I am very familiar with Cox's current course layout. Bear in mind, the event is only a few years old and still working to improve itself from feedback provided. The only drawback —for some people— may be Providence's smallish field (approx. 900 runners) and those open stretches sans spectators. But I gotta tell you, running along the East Bay bike path makes this one very scenic marathon. A few pics here:
