Do you REALLY have a fever, taken with a themometer & registering over 98.6 or whatever your norm is? Or is is the 'flush & chill" that Steve is describing? I also have temperature regulation issues after a really long run (18-26) in less than optimum conditions, very hot weather. For me it's a sure sign of dehydration, usually remedied by fluid intke along with some salty food (chips, pretzels, dill pickles). But it you are running fever and it shows on a thermometer it's possible that there is something else going on. I am not a doctor and have never played one on TV, but heavy training can cause a lowering of the immune system. Some people take daily doses of vitamin C to keep from being prone ot catching colds...
But I'll bet you're fighting dehydration and this could be checked out by weighing yourself before & after your long run. Increase you fulid intake & watch your electrolytes as well. Report back so we can see if you figure this out! -Rita
