I don't know what you've done for a taper in the past, North. I usually do my last really hard week a month before the big race, ending with a 24-26 mile long run. Then I start dropping everything back. I stop the two-a-days on wednesday and Friday with three weeks to go, and my last long run a week before is about 10 miles. Milage wise, it went from 64 - 35 - 27 - 23 with the week of the race a junk week. Swimming is great, but i wouldn't limit your self to just pulling. Just don't do any really hard workouts like 10 x 50 on the :45 or something like that :)

I also did a lot of hiking before Napa. Monday, we hiked about six miles in the grand canyon, tuesday, four in Yosemite and then another five in Yosemite on wendsday. Wine tasting friday and thanks to VooDoo, a nice swim on Saturday after a short run.

Good luck in Boston this year. I'm thinking about going next year, since I've got the qualifying time now.
