Sorry to hear about the knee - I know it's inconvenient trying to ice in the workplace but icing is the best thing. Have you tried taking a bag of frozen peas or corn and wrapping it with an ace bandage around your knee? It's less messy than a bag of ice and you can alternate bags as they thaw and refreeze. You also want to keep your leg elevated as much as possible.
Hope you're better soon! It sounds like you had a great run apart from the fall.
