If the half were at least 1 mo. out, racing would be the obvious way to go. But since it's only 3 weeks out, I believe there is far greater benefit to running precise MP throughout. For a 3:40 marathoner, it's the difference between managing 8:24 miles rather than 7:55 during a half-marathon.
Far too many runners go into marathons unfamiliar with their MP, and that can undermine many weeks of dedicated training.
