First - are you really running on a quarter-mile track? Because there are very few of them left in the country anymore. 400m is the prevailing standard for modern ovals. And 4 laps of 400m does NOT = 1 mile.
Second - if you're not running within a constant lane, there's really no telling what's going on — with or without a Garmin. If you are interested in lane distances, you probably should use this nifty online calculator:
