Don't sell yourself short. The measures you have taken to remain well hydrated and nourished certainly have a great deal to do with it but don't forget the most important thing about the long runs - they train your body to adjust to the distances. I think the big factor in the way you felt after your 20 (or was it 21?) miler was the fact that you had already done an 18 miler before it.
The body is amazing in its ability to adapt to the rigors of what you put it through. Your muscles "remember" what you did before and adapts quicker during the next long run, thereby making it feel "easier."
So, on your next long run - do everything you have been doing (hydrate, nourish, stretch, etc.) but remember that this is the payoff for all the work you have been doing and ENJOY!
BTW, I have been taking naproxen everyday (500mg tab 2x a day) for a number of years now - under medical supervision - and have had no ill effects (blood tested every 3 months). My doctor advises me that I can increase dosage (an extra tab or two) if I feel I need to without a problem but should not do it for an extended period of time (toxicity). So you should be OK with your sporadic use - you just don't want it to become a habit.
Have a great long run, cheers
