Interesting re the pace -- I actually found that I used Chris's ideas re different types of "steps" (he suggested that I "change up" my running, one "stride" downhill, one uphill, one for the flats) and that was AMAZING -- what a difference! I have been doing really well using the Galloway plan (5 min run, 1 min walk), but my boyfriend keeps pace with me -- if I have to slow down, he slows down too.
What do you do on longer runs -- will your wife bring you water, or do you loop back to your house, etc? That was the biggest issue for us -- tho we have water/GU in a "pack" on the dog. (We get a lot of comments on that!!)
The other thing that I did this weekend was I tried stretching when I did the two "breaks" (to fill up water, and "potty breaks"). WannaBeRunner suggested that -- I do not know why, but it never occurred to me. I think that was also very helpful.
Lastly, I took an ibuprofen before going out, and then 1/2 way. I am not sure WHAT was helpful -- I tried everything! But I'm so excited to have done the 20. Did you say you have done 20 yet? I feel (as Delirium said below) that once you get to 20, you feel that you "can do it." That is how I felt. I felt fantastic.
My chilly winds (probably low 30s) are no match for your weather! You are most assuredly more "stoic" than I am, training up there!!! Keep it up!
