Zeke hit it on the head - Those who improve the most are usually not those who work the hardest (Although some hard work is needed) but those who learn to be the best at recovery.

Recovery means many things - It means running truly "Easy" on easy days. I cna run a 2:45 marathon, but my easy pace is still 8-8:15

But recovery is much more: Getting enough sleep, taking care of nutrition, hydration and electrolyte balance.

Get yourself healed up!
