For the past year I've been a casual runner, averaging 12 miles/week. I signed up for the San Diego marathon at the end of January & intended to follow Hal Higdon's 18 week novice program. Shortly after signing up I got struck down by pneumonia and was unable to run at all for several weeks. I started running again last week and I'm now 13 weeks out from race day and way off my training schedule.
Is it still possible to train for the marathon? Would you advise just starting on that week of the training program or should I somehow combine weeks? I looked for 13 week training programs and could not find anything. I'd really love any insight on this. Thanks!
