I can understand being competitive. Plus there is something about the marathon distance that I really enjoy, I respect it as well. Your question about which races I thought were 'best' makes me think... everyone is different, I loved Boston, it's epic (had bad weather & was injured), Rocket City (Huntsville, AL if you get good weather) is a race for runners by runners...I've enjoyed Richmond,VA and Shamrock, VA Beach, VA...Wineglass, NY and Hartford,CT were also good (and I had good weather for those)... I'm sure there are others that I haven't done yet that are great... I did one in Anchorage, AK and it was wonderful and made even better by the week long cruise my hubby and I took afterwards. I'm hoping to do Hawaii in January and hope it will also have that same 'vacation magic'.
50 states is my personal goal (and lots of other peoples as well). Google '50 states marathon club'. The idea is to run one in each of the 50 states. People there are way more obsessive then I could hope to be, nice group of people. I figure if I'm running I might as well travel & see the country, something I've always wanted to do anyway! This weekend I'm off to Little Rock,AR... I'm slow but I do love the sport. -Rita
