well... I have been running since 2004 and listen all the time. It's not too loud but keeps me focused. I am also a triathlete and listen on the bike because I am on a closed bike trail, and run along the beach. My iPod helped me get thru a year of training for my Ironman; hours on the bike and hours on the run. I was not allowed to have it during the Ironman so 7-1/2 hrs on the bike and 6-1/2 during the run were tough, but it was also nice. After breaking my addiction to my iPod when running or riding, it is easier to not use it. But, it has gotten me thru many a long training day.. 13.1's and 26.2's I listen all the time..
