Hi, First of all you need to test if your stomach accepts anything else than fluids on your marathon run. If I just eat a slice of bread during a marathon my stomach gets very upset. You have to try it out. I don't thinks it's so much science into it. Weigh your food intake, have a look at how many carbs you are eating and try it on each long run. Don't make it complicated. Best!
