I am training for my first marathon - Marine Corp Marathon in Oct 2010. I have 10 months to train, but can't seem to find a training schedule that meets my needs...it's possible I can't find one because one doesn't exist...so I thought I'd ask those with experience. I have two small children (ages 1 and 2.5 years) and right now they tolerate running twice during the week (Mondays and Wednesdays). My only chance to run alone is on the weekends. I should probably add that I am training in AZ, so my long runs this summer will begin about 4am (good times...).
My general plan is to run 3-5 miles during the week and then to increase my mileage on the weekends. Is this possible for proper training or do I need to run more during the week? It's tough to run with the double jogger (even one as amazing as mine - I have the BOB), so I'm not a huge fan of having to run much more than 5 miles with the kiddos. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
