Short Runs in Marathon Program

I'm a little more than half way into a marathon schedule, and so far am doing well, tomorrow is 16 miles. This is my first marathon, I'm 24 years old and my goal is to complete it injury free, close to or under 4 hours if possible. I have two questions:

1. The schedule I'm on seems standard as far as the long runs, but the short runs don't really go over 6 miles. Should I be doing anything over that or is this ok?

2. Also, it has me doing 5 runs a week sometimes but my personal schedule has sometimes limited me to 4 days a week (I like to take a rest day the day before long runs, sometimes the day after). Is this a problem? Should I increase my milage on one of the other short runs that week if I only go out 4 times?
