An x-ray will confirm if you have a bone spur. I had one removed from the top of my foot—pain was eliminated but there was some minor nerve damage and the area remains VERY sensitive (I've gotten good at avoiding items dropping on my foot).

There is no healing-type cures that I'm aware of; I changed the lacing on all my shoes to avoid the spot, obviously a tight fitting shoe would aggravate the spur and may have been the original cause.

Good luck.
